Cannot Attach NodeBox File to Forum Comment
Hi guys,
For some reason I was unable to attach a perfectly ordinary nodebox file to a recent forum post. For the text of the nodebox file, see my response to Rory's comment about animating a line.
Every time i tried to attach the file I got the following error:
curve_reveal.ndbx (5.74 KB)
has contents that are not what they are reported to be
I just tried creating a test comment attaching the same file. That time it succeeded (apparently - it says my comment is "awaiting moderation"). But when I tried attaching the same file again to Rory's thread it once again failed.
I tried renaming the file, recreating it in various ways, rebooting my computer, etc. all without success. The nodebox file itself seems ordinary and works just fine when I open it. Have you changed the forum software? Have then been any other reports of people having trouble attaching NodeBox files?
I'm stumped.
John

Hi,
There was no change in the forum software that I know of. To make things "easy" we don't host it ourselves, but it is hosted through Tender.
Could you try zipping it, then uploading? I found that ndbx files sometimes cause issues since the system doesn't know the format (they get confused figuring out if it's binary or not).

Zipping the file solved the problem. If it happens again I'll try that. Thanks.
Odd. I've attached dozens of ndbx files and this has never happened to me before. I wonder what it was about this file that caused the problem.

Yeah I realize it's very annoying. I have no clue what causes it, probably some overzealous spam filter.
I'd love to switch to another forum software. I'm looking at Discourse now...
