String art; Existence of meta nodes?

I am totally new to NodeBox and I am interested in knowing if an idea is feasible. Basically, I want to determine if NodeBox could be used as a tool to design string art. String art involves pounding of nails into boards and then winding a strand or strands of string around the nails in order to make a pattern. I would like a node with a programmable number of ports. This node could represent a line, circle, or other geometry with the ports along it representing nails at particular intervals.

I would like to create wires between ports of the node or of different nodes representing wound string. Maybe a solution would be some sort of "meta node" that would contain a "conventional node". In other words, the meta node would generate a conventional node based on the meta node's parameters, including the number of ports. Any help would be most appreciated.
