Obsessing Eyes
Hello everyone! I'm a teacher from Huafan University, Taiwan. And I'm planning to teach nodebox3 in my course which is called [New Media Art Creation] from Feb. 2020. Below is a example which I'll delivered in the class. The eye is made by some simple shapes and combinations, but has some interesting emergence effect when duplicated and overlaid.
Thank you for all the artists here! (especially john, I love your Cartan library )

Welcome, Jomo0825!
WOW. I am very impressed. I was startled to find your network had only three nodes - the eye and two copy nodes. As you say: interesting emergence effect.
But I was even more surprised when I opened the eye subnetwork. That outer screen is pure genius. It would never have occurred to me to use an ellipse to make what appears to be a fine brush stroke, sightly fatter in the middle. And then to create such a pleasing effect by simply rotating it offset from the origin. I've never seen anything quite like this.
You pull off a similar miracle with the rays around the pupil. Again a subtle brush stroke, this time made by stretching a triangle to an absurd degree. Clever use of an offset with the scale node. Very economical using a wide stroke width for the gray oval surrounding the black oval.
The whole thing is ingenious. Thank you for sharing this. I think your students will be in for an interesting adventure. I hope you will encourage them to share their work on the forum as well.
Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you.
John
