UPDATE: See version 2.1 at bottom of this thread.

I am proud to announce the release of version 2 of my Node Library.

I made the following improvements:

  • All nodes now have the correct output setting and color
  • I have grouped the nodes by category
  • I added a "Multiply by" option to the Indices node
  • I added a scale option to the draw_table node
  • Write_table now allows you to enter the file name using the file widget dialog

I added five table nodes for easier data analysis tasks. For more information, see http://support.nodebox.net/discussions/nodebox-2-3/6194-table-nodes

  • Change_col. Replace a column with modified data or add new one
  • Drop_cols. Drop or keep a subset of columns
  • Sum_cols. Make summary table categorized by row with totals across multiple existing columns
  • Summarize. Make summary table with totals categorized by row and optionally partitioned into columns
  • Transpose. Turn a set of columns into a new dimension

I added twelve other nodes. Each is documented separately in the Show Your Work forum.

  • Arrange. Arrange objects in tidy stacks
  • Backdrop. Add a colored backdrop behind content
  • Bounce. Calculate a dampening curve to create bouncing animations
  • Bounds. Constrain values within upper and/or lower bounds
  • Find_arc. Finds an arc between two points
  • Gear. Create an adjustable, working gear
  • Percentage. Returns percentage as number or formatted string
  • Poisson. Generate evenly spaced points within a rectangular area - REQUIRES POISSON.PY
  • Precision. Rounds a floating point number to a given precision
  • Running_start. A running total that starts with the first value
  • Style_text. Convert markup text into a list of styled word paths
  • This_or_that. If which is 0 choose this, if which is 1 choose that

This brings the total up to 74 nodes. As with the previous release, a demo of each node is included inside the library network. I have also included a PDF poster showing outputs of all the nodes; look this over to get an idea of what each node does.

All nodes are free for use without restriction.

Comments welcome! Go forth and multiply!

Thank you for the update, John. I've been reviewing the new version, I noticed that it does not fully render when viewing all the library examples — but it works when viewing one example. This is on OSX 10.15.4

Each example works, so not an issue for me, but it might confuse some users when reviewing the library

In the arrange example, how do I adjust the number of objects being displayed, the example shows 15 objects, how do I change this number?

    Thank you in advance

    D,

Thanks for taking the time to review my library.

I have attached version 2.1 of the library. The only change I made was to change several of the fonts used in the poster.. I used some non-standard fonts in a few places that might cause problems for people who don't have those fonts installed in their systems. (I am still using a few non-Verdana fonts here and there for good reasons, but I think they are common fonts: Courier, Times Roman, Helvetica Neue.)

Could you please try that and report back? If you are still seeing problems, please be specific. When you say the poster does not fully render - what parts exactly don't render?

As for your second question, to change the number of objects, change the amount parameter in the random_numbers node at the top. That is a tad obscure; my apologies.

    Thanks again,

    John

    Hi John,

The Library 2.1 is now working fine on OSX 10.15.3 and 10.15.4

    Thanks for the quick update
