What is the Meta key

I'm running nodebox 3 on Ubuntu 13.10 and noticed that some of the keyboard shortcuts use the Meta key (screenshot attached). What key is this (I'm using a Dell XPS13 computer

In my case that's the "alt" key. It might be that this is mapped to "move window", which I've disabled.
